Grant Thornton’s Carlos Ferreira named a ‘Notable Accounting and Consulting Leader’ by Crain’s New York Business

NEW YORK — Grant Thornton, one of America’s largest brands of professionals providing end-to-end audit, assurance, tax and advisory services, has a new award winner in New York City. Carlos Ferreira, the managing principal of the firm’s Northeast region, has been named a ‘Notable Leader in Accounting and Consulting’ by Crain’s New York Business. These honors recognize professionals who make a significant impact on their firms, their clients and the New York business and philanthropic communities.

Ferreira has nearly 30 years of progressive leadership roles in audit and consulting, including 25 years in New York City. As the head of Grant Thornton’s Northeast region, he works alongside leaders in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Massachusetts to ensure all audit, tax and advisory clients receive personalized, high-quality services. His role encompasses everything from sales to strategy execution to individual client service.

“It’s easy to see why Crain’s selected Carlos for its list: His years of experience as both an auditor and a consultant bring immense value to our people and our clients,” said Alasdair Trotter, chief revenue officer of Grant Thornton Advisors LLC. “His knowledge of M&A and private equity, combined with his client-centric approach to leadership, has fueled growth at Grant Thornton and, more importantly, helped hundreds of companies attain their goals. These singular capabilities will be critical to Grant Thornton’s continued success in the Northeast.”

Ferreira began his career in his native South Africa, where he worked for the South African member firm of the Grant Thornton International Limited network of member firms. Since relocating to New York in 1999, he has held a succession of key leadership roles, including regional Advisory leadership, global co-lead of Transaction Advisory Services and national managing partner for Private Equity. He has worked across a wide range of major industries and helped close more than 1,500 transactions.

Outside of work, Ferreira is a longtime volunteer leader with the Boy Scouts. For almost a decade, he was a board member for New York City’s chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth.

In Ferreira’s words: “The traits that lead to successful transactions — including agility and in-depth industry knowledge — are the same traits my Grant Thornton teammates exhibit every day. I share this honor with all of my colleagues, who inspire me and provide uniquely personalized solutions throughout the Northeast and beyond.”

Ferreira earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from the University of Pretoria in South Africa, then spent another year earning an advanced degree in accounting at the University of South Africa. He is a certified public accountant in New York and New Jersey.
