DENVER — Lori Davis, Grant Thornton’s market managing principal in Denver, has been recognized as one of the city’s “Outstanding Women in Business.” The awards, presented annually by the Denver Business Journal, recognize local leaders who inspire their peers, deliver results and make a substantial impact in the city’s business and philanthropic communities.
Davis is an accountant and tax professional who has worked in the accounting and consulting industry for more than 35 years, including 30 at Grant Thornton. She has served as her firm’s leader in the Denver market for the last 11 years, ensuring clients across all industries receive personalized and high-quality audit and assurance, tax and advisory services.
She was previously the firm’s leader in Wichita, Kansas, and she became a Tax partner while working in Oklahoma City in the early 2000s. At each stop, she has served clients in industries as diverse as manufacturing, hospitality and financial services — while taking on leadership roles in various community organizations. Additionally, she is well-known for her passionate advocacy for women, which has helped Grant Thornton attain several important diversity, equity and inclusion milestones.
According to David Platt, the firm’s managing principal in the Central region, Davis has played a key role in shaping Grant Thornton into the firm it is today.
“Lori has always prioritized people and relationships, which has made her an instrumental part of our ongoing success in Denver and throughout the country,” Platt said. “Leaders like her have a ripple effect, inspiring and motivating everyone they meet and, as a result, creating a culture where teammates are eager to support one another and help each other grow.”
Outside of work, Davis is a member of the board of directors for the Downtown Denver Partnership and the Rocky Mountain chapter of Junior Achievement. She is also a longtime board member for the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, and she previously served on the Metro Denver Economic Development Committee.
Prior to this award, she was a 2012 Women in Business honoree by the Wichita Business Journal and Working Mother magazine’s 2010 Working Mother of the Year.
“I’m grateful for this kind recognition by the Denver Business Journal, which I know is a direct result of my team and my supporters putting me and our firm in a position to thrive,” said Davis. “I’ve called many cities home during my career, but Denver — our people, our businesses and our nonprofit community — has a special place in my heart.”
She added: “I can’t wait to continue growing our footprint in this city and providing the personalized, high-touch services clients need more than ever.”
Davis is a certified public accountant in Colorado and Oklahoma. She earned both a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s of business administration degree from the University of Oklahoma.
