With this weekend’s horrific violence in the Middle East, we know that many people around the world – and within our firm and our global network – are feeling shaken, saddened and concerned. Grant Thornton condemns terrorism and hopes for a durable and nonviolent path to peace and stability.
GTIL leaders have confirmed that all of our Grant Thornton Israel employees and their families are safe, and those leaders will continue to stay in contact with local colleagues. We’ll share further updates with you as we receive information from GTIL. We have also conducted safety checks for any U.S.-based GT colleagues who are in the region.
In addition to the emotional trauma caused by events such as these, such senseless acts of violence can also lead people around the world to feel at risk. As always, we have resources available to support your well-being in the face of such tragedies, including our Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which offers confidential information and counseling services to our teammates and their families. Firm leaders are also working to schedule a call in the coming days for teammates who are looking for a safe place of comfort to discuss their thoughts. We will announce details as soon as we can.
Thank you for supporting and looking after each other in the face of such turbulent times, and for standing up for the Grant Thornton values that keep our community strong.
When the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) recently released a new International Standard on Quality Management (ISQM 1) for strengthening firms’ quality management systems, our Audit practitioners saw the stringent requirements as a potential opportunity, leading to a business need submission to alyxTM. With the ISQM 1 standard effective on Dec. 15, 2022, and AICPA and PCAOB standards on the horizon, Audit and Enterprise Transformation got right to work. The result? Grant Thornton has developed an innovative new technology — qm.x — to design, implement and operate the required systems of quality management (SoQM). While other competitive products are beginning to emerge, qm.x is the most practical tool on the market, backed by our strong GT brand and strategically priced to win.
Before taking the steps listed on this CPA Resource Center page, please carefully review the firm’s CPA Licensing & Professional Certifications Policy. This policy sets forth the requirements that apply to the firm’s CPAs at all levels and service lines. The responsibility for appropriate licensure belongs solely to each GT professional. The lack of appropriate licensure will be taken into account in the evaluation of promotion possibilities. Please contact your service/practice line leaders, ASQ, TPQ, Audit Risk Management, your Professional Practice Director (PPD), and/or RRLA (legal.questions@us.gt.com) with any questions about this policy.
